Our Principals and Executive Team provide expertise and experience in leading schools from around the world. All teaching staff are qualified in the British Education system, they are highly experienced and have a proven track record in delivering high quality education.

 

Al Ain Academy

Mr. Nourse – Principal

 

Mr. Nourse was worked in Education for over twenty years. He has been the Principal of five schools in the UK and the UAE. Mr. Nourse believes that building confidence is one of the main keys to success in education alongside motivating children to be the best they can be academically, artistically and personally. Mr. Nourse has recently trained as a school inspector and is very proud to be Principal of Al Ain International School.

 

Al Bateen Academy

Mr. Hutson – Principal

 

Mr. Hutson has been a part of the school's senior leadership team since its opening in September 2011. Mr. Hutson is a highly experienced educator who joined Aldar Academies after time spent in a number of leadership positions in UK schools. Mr. Hutson ensures that every child at Al Bateen Secondary School flourishes. Mr. Hutson believes in the school's vision for an outstanding, holistic, international education for all students; a learning environment in which students achieve their academic potential, develop inter-cultural understanding and gain the personal attributes needed for working life in the 21st century.

 

Al Mamoura Academy

Mrs. Wendy Roderick – Principal - Head of Secondary

 

Mrs. Roderick has over twenty five years' experience as a mother and Educator, holding leadership roles in UK and international schools. Prior to joining Adar Academies as Principal and Head of Secondary at one of our highly successful school in 2013, she served as Principal Education Adviser for a UK Local Authority with ninety two schools, leading school improvement and continuing professional development. She served as Chief Examiner for English Literature for a major examination board and describes herself as 'an English teacher at heart', caring passionately about children's reading and writing provision. An experienced School Inspector, Mrs Roderick has lead education projects in Africa, Italy, Singapore and Germany and enjoys the challenges and joys of working in international contexts. She is delighted to be the inaugural Principal and Head of Secondary of Al Mamoura Academy and looks forward to working closely with students, staff and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for all concerned.

 

Al Mamoura Academy

Mrs Emma Shanahan – Head of Primary

 

Mrs. Shanahan has worked in education for over twenty years, starting as a primary school teacher in London. She has held leadership roles in both UK and international schools, and is highly experienced in school improvement. Mrs. Shanahan was the inaugural deputy head teacher at another highly successful Aldar Academies school from 2009, and was appointed Principal of Al Mushrif in July 2014. Mrs. Shanahan is keen to build on the successes already achieved. She is committed to developing a school where children make as much progress as possible in a happy, safe environment where families are welcomed.

 

Al Muna Academy

Mr. Howsen – Principal

 

Mr. Howsen has worked in schools in the UK for over twenty years and is in his fourteenth year of Headship. Having led four very different schools in the UK, Mr. Howsen joined Al Muna School in January 2012. As well as his work as a Headteacher, Mr. Howsen has acted as a consultant Head for a number of schools all over the UK and has worked with assessment authorities in the development of assessment materials. At Al Muna, Mr. Howsen enjoys implementing his vision of making school a fun, safe place for children to learn and make as much progress as possible.

Mrs. Abigail Fishbourne

 

Mrs. Fishbourne has worked in education for over 20 years. Prior to Principal leadership roles she taught in all primary years. She has been involved in delivering a wide variety of staff training and introduced educational programs across both primary and secondary years. She has worked with various educational groups including local authority, national academy, university and educational charities. She continues to develop The Pearl's positive learning ethos and ensures it remains as one of the most successful schools in Abu Dhabi. As a believer in developing lifelong learners she is committed to providing a 21st century education that combines creativity, critical thinking, innovation and a love of learning.

 

 

Al Yasmina Academy

Mr. Hughes – Principal

 

Mr. Hughes has fifteen years of experience in teaching, the last seven of which have been in leadership roles. He joins us directly from a leading large academy in the UK that is Ofsted outstanding in all aspects and a designated national teaching school. Dr. Hughes has a background in Science, holding a degree in Chemistry and a doctorate in Physics, and spent two years in the industry as a senior medical researcher. Mr. Hughes is passionate about school improvement and believes that partnership with parents, leadership, research and innovation are central to a school's success.

 

West Yas Academy

Mrs. Cosgray - Principal

 

Mrs. Cosgray brings over 23 years of international education experience to West Yas Academy, including 13 years in leadership positions. Before moving to the UAE during 2017, Mrs Cosgray was Elementary Principal at the Western Academy of Beijing, China. Her time in Asia followed a role as Director of Elementary Education in the USA, where she oversaw theteaching quality and operations of 12 elementary schools. In her home country, Mrs. Cosgray also held Director of Curriculum and earlier Principal roles.

Passionate, energetic and imaginative, Mrs. Cosgray values an education that is internationally-minded, inquiry-based and hands-on, which ultimately develops the 'whole student'. With a personable approach to leadership, Mrs Cosgray. believes in creating a positive rapport with students, parents and teachers to build a strong and collaborative school community.
